Easy Installation: 5 Steps For Installing Kitchen Cabinet Handles

0

Kitchen cabinet handles may seem rather innocuous. After all, they are located in a space that has large essentials like fridges, ovens and stovetops. But, in reality, they make a massive difference in your kitchen’s style and ergonomics, allowing you to comfortably open your cabinets whilst providing a subtle touch of elegance.

They are also incredibly easy to install. If you love a bit of home DIY then you will know that this is one of the easier jobs going around.

Here, we are going to fill you on five simple steps to ensuring your elegant black cabinet handles are properly installed:

Materials needed

The great thing about installing these essentials is that you likely have most of the tools stored away in your DIY drawer:

  1. Your new handles
  2. Drill
  3. Screwdriver
  4. Measuring tape
  5. Pilot hole bits
  6. Wall anchors
  7. Level

Now that you’ve got your tools ready to go we can move onto the five simple steps for installing your kitchen designs:

Clean & prep the cabinet

You don’t want to install your designs on a dirty cabinet. Therefore, the first thing you have to do is wipe the door to remove any old adhesive, dirt, debris or other specks that may have come with the new door. If you are using an old door then you obviously need to remove the screws that are already there as you need to place new ones in the space.

Measure its location

The next thing you need to do is measure and mark exactly where your design is going to be placed. Grab your level and measure and decide where you would like to place the hole. When deciding on its location, you should consider important aspects like style, ergonomics and functionality. For example, you wouldn’t want to place the design too high, as it could make it difficult to open the drawer. Once you have measured the spot, mark it and use your level to ensure it won’t be installed lopsided.

Create your pilot holes

You may need pilot holes if you are using a particular dense material like wood. If so, it’s imperative to make pilot holes to avoid splitting the material. Once you have marked the hole location, use your drill and drill bits to create the holes before inserting the screw.

Install your handles

See, we said it was simple. It’s now time to install your design. All you have to do is place them at the pilot hole and insert the screws through the handle. You can then use your screwder to ensure that they are properly secured. However, it’s important to avoid over-tightening the design in your kitchen, as this could easily split the door’s material and ruin the whole process!

Using wall anchors

You may wish to use wall anchors if the material is flimsy and could potentially break. Wall anchors can provide extra support to designs that require extra support. You can easily insert your wall anchors into the door and ensure they are properly screwed into their position.

Test your door

It’s all really that simple! However, before you start actually using the door it is important that you check it for its efficiency. What’s more, testing the door will ensure that you have done the job properly, as it is always possible to make a little mistake that challenges the door’s efficiency and ease of use.

So, quickly check the door before you begin to use it and you’ll be good to go!
